Manal made the wedding dress of my dreams!! When you're looking for a black wedding dress as a plus-sized person, the market is pretty thin, especially when you can find dresses to fit your vision, but they only go up to a size 16!! But this is where Brides & Tailor excels! I fell in love with a base dress she had already made, but asked to make a small adjustment to the sleeves that turned it into everything I wanted. It was the gothic fairytale princess dress of my dreams, and I felt like the most beautiful bride walking around downtown Detroit. If the hoots and hollers of appreciation from people seeing us going around getting pictures weren’t enough to boost my confidence, the pictures themselves represented how much of a goddess I looked like. It was the most magical experience, and Manal was such a gem to work with.

I contacted Manal pretty close to the wire, after a previous dress I ordered didn’t work out. Thankfully she was able to get me a new dress well ahead of time, and the work was exquisite. Throughout the process I felt like she heard what I wanted without being afraid to give her own input using her knowledge and expertise. I so appreciated her fast work, flexibility, and of course her craftsmanship. I couldn’t have been happier—the dress was just what I wanted.

From the beginning, Manal’s communication with me was excellent. I was searching for the perfect emerald-green wedding gown to supply my emerald-green wedding. It was so important that I got the correct gown, because for me, my special day had a double meaning as I wanted it to honor the memory of my late grandmother, who always called me Emerald, a legacy which became my pen-name. It was a process to find all of the arrangements that we wanted while trying to stick to the theme. The dress proved to be the most challenging one. I’d searched and searched the internet for just the right dress, but none of the ones I found seemed to fit my vision, which was something subtle, but elegant and beautiful. I wanted one that was traditional but also fit this special theme for me . . . Then I came across this amazing dress that Brides and Tailor had on their website. I knew from the moment I saw it that it was the right one for me. The price was a little bit steep for us, but honestly- after the fact, and all of the work I saw that was put into it and what a process it is to make, the price seems very reasonable. Fortunately, unbeknownst to me, while I was doing my searches, my sister had decided to make the wedding dress itself her contribution to my wedding. When I found that out, this dress became my reality, and I contacted the company immediately to inquire about it. From the first point of contact, Manal and her team were absolutely wonderful. They walked me through the process and everything that was involved and patiently answered all of my questions. Not only was their customer service very good, but Manal herself seemed very invested in her work and passionate about it. You can just tell from talking with her that she loves what she does and truly cares about her clients. Looking back on everything, I’m so glad that I chose to make her a part of my wedding, and I can honestly say that she was an integral part of helping to make it become a reality. I’m so happy that I enlisted Brides and Tailor on my team for this very part of my life’s journey. This day was so special to me in so many ways, and I really did need a whole team to make it real. Not only was it symbolic for me and a tribute to my late grandmother, but my grandmother on my mother’s side- who is of Middle Eastern origins, Chaldean specifically- also had a hand to play in it. She helped me and my mother to plan a Chaldean-American wedding, so that the D.J. would play a variety of cultural, middle-eastern songs and dances as well as American ones. Unbeknownst to me at the time, her contributions to the wedding would be a last and parting gift, as she passed away from cancer a few months later. I will always be grateful to her for helping me to have the Iraqi-American wedding I’d always desired. She was not able to be at the wedding but- sick in her bed with cancer- was at least able to watch it. I am so grateful that she was able to share in the most important experience of my life before she died. So many memories, contributions, and legacies were captured in the photos and videos taken at the wedding, and I’m grateful beyond words that they will be forever imprinted all around our house. The wedding was everything I needed it to be, and it managed to convey so much in just a few short hours (hours that myself and hopefully everyone who was there will forever remember). At the center of everything is the amazing dress that helped me to accomplish the exact look I wanted and to step into my fairytale ‘shoes’ so to speak. OMG! Brides & Tailor exceeded my expectations! I’m absolutely in love with my dress and can’t wait for my big day. I reached out to Manal about a month and a half ago, sharing some options I liked. She explained that she couldn’t replicate copyrighted designs, which was completely understandable, so she worked with me to create a custom dress that fit the theme and style I wanted. Manal sent me detailed measurement guidelines, and for any measurements she wasn’t sure about, she asked me to redo them to ensure everything was perfect. She kept me updated throughout the entire process and even sent me photos as the dress was coming together—by then, I was already in love with it! When I got the email saying the dress was ready, I was so excited. It was beautifully packaged and protected, and I was in awe when I opened the box. I just had to try it on right away, and I even shed a few tears seeing how beautiful it was. I can only imagine how everything will come together on my big day! I had a wonderful experience with Brides & Tailor! I was looking for alternative wedding dresses and first discovered them through Etsy. I was excited to learn they also had a dedicated website, which made the ordering process even easier. After I submitted my order details, they reached out to me quickly and kept up great communication throughout the entire process, and regularly sent updates and progress photos, which I really appreciated and felt involved through the whole process!

I can’t say enough good things! From the first message to the shipping and home try-on, they were on it. They double-checked every single detail and measurement like it was their own wedding day on the line. I was kept in the loop the whole way through, —the process was quick but never sloppy. They moved fast, but with care and craftsmanship. My dress fit like a dream. I knew from the beginning that I wanted a custom dress, they made my dreams a reality, not by just seeing my vision but by keeping coat similar to what some pay off the rack. I had a complete custom dress made here and I was absolutely speechless. Firstly the process actually went quite a bit quicker than I thought it would due to the type of dress. Communication was top notch. Any question I had was answered and I was kept well informed thru the entire process of my dress being made. I did not have you a typical wedding dress made and I honestly wasn’t sure how achievable my wild ideas were going to be but wow! I am truly amazed at what was done. I sent in a picture of a few dresses that I wanted different parts of pieced together and the dress turned out looking exactly like the picture. Once I saw photos of this gown, I knew it was the one. I had searched everywhere, tried on countless other dresses, and this one was always on my mind. When I finally reached out to Manal Chams, I was greeted with equal parts kindness and professionalism unmatched. I was worried about not actually being able to go and try it on, (a long with their other gorgeous gowns) with me being so far away. But my worries melted away with reassurance from Manal and the detailed instructions on how to get correct measurements so that they could custom make my gown. They sent a plethora of under bodice colors for me to choose from, and continued to be very communicative throughout the entire process. They even sent pictures when it was done, ramping up my excitement and eagerness to finally get to try it on. When my dress arrived, (within the work week of them finishing it) I was flabbergasted. It was more beautiful than I could have even imagined. It fit like a glove. It was of such refined quality and beauty. I'm in complete awe of how incredible this company is. I had saw some dresses on their website I loved but still wanted to try some dresses on in person. I'm not lying in saying this before I left that shop I made the decision to purchase my dress from their website. Amazing!! I had a vision in mind for my dress but couldn’t find anything that fit my exact style. I chose to design my own bridal gown with brides and Tailor. I sent them what I liked from 3 different gowns and they were able to combine my vision and create my dream wedding dress. I wanted a V neck front, a corset back, and long ethereal sleeves, with floral lace extending from the gown down the sleeves. They drew it out for me and I approved! Then they sent me pictures throughout the entire process and had me approve everything they did before they sewed. I am absolutely in love!! I just received my dress and it is the most elegant piece of clothing I’ve ever worn. I cannot believe the craftsmanship and beauty in this dress. It is stunning and I couldn’t be happier! Because the train is so long, I realized after I tried it on I’d need to get a bustle for it. I emailed Brides and Tailor to see if they could do it or if I should bring it in to a local seamstress near me. They then informed me that they already put a bustle on the dress since the train is so long, even though I didn’t request one! Amazing! I was so grateful to hear they thought of what would be best for me on my wedding day. They also replied to any and all emails within 1-2 days. I cannot recommend them enough! 10/10

Excellent experience! My dress came out so well done and GORGEOUS! They allowed me to choose the shade of purple, lace pattern, type of lace and kept me updated throughout the entire process. They gave great suggestions to help me decide on things for my dress and kept me in the loop about everything. I really liked that I was able to split the payments up as well so it wasn’t one huge lump sum for me. They are super flexible in design and just overall great communication. The dress itself is OUTSTANDING! And I can’t wait to wear it on my wedding day. Their customer service is excellent as well. I called them to ask them how to attach my removable train, and they answered the phone immediately and explained step by on how to hook on the train to the dress. Honestly 10/10 would recommend this company for custom wedding dresses!

The team at Brides and Tailor did an amazing job with my custom alternative wedding dress. They explained everything in detail, we're willing to work within my budget to provide me with a beautiful dress. I was looking for a non traditional dress and had been having difficulties finding a dress that met the requirements I was looking for. Black dresses not being the standard for wedding makes finding them fairly difficult. Not only was brides and Tailor able to make me a black dress but they were able to complete a custom designwd black and purple dress. Highly recommend for those who are looking for unusual and unique dresses

I was so nervous to get a custom made dress doing the whole process online since I'm in a completely different state, but Manal was amazing and sent me pictures at every step without me even asking. She was so good at communicating and sending pictures of different laces and giving her opinions as well. She captured exactly what I wanted from all the sample pictures I sent. When I got the dress in I felt so emotional trying it on because it was exactly what I wanted. I felt like how a bride should feel when she finds her dress and that was a feeling I never got when I was trying on other dresses. I can't recommend them enough

I was beyond impressed with the custom wedding gown Brides and Tailor created for my 2022 wedding. Every step of the way I was stunned with Brides and Tailors' competence, professionalism, and attention to detail. My wedding dress remains the gem of my wardrobe; building it together from scratch was a highlight of my wedding experience and I’ve received countless compliments on it. I highly recommend Brides and Tailor to any bride who: a) has a curvy figure & may have trouble buying clothes off the rack in general b) wants a nontraditional dress (ie custom colors, a specific combination of fabrics & styles, or a specific “theme” to fit) b) wants a durable, custom art piece that you can wear to formal events beyond the wedding (I’ve already worn mine to two themed balls post-wedding!) d) wants to feel powerful and stunning on her wedding day, and in control every step of the dress buying process I will also say Brides and Tailor is very reasonably priced for the custom & quality of dress delivered. For example, the traditional dresses I looked at before coming to Brides and Tailor cost $3,000-5,000 plus; working with Brides & Tailor got me a similar style customized to my preferred colors, measurements, and style for less than half of the traditional dress. Given how responsive and attentive to detail Brides & Tailor are, I would guess they can modify designs to fit any budget. Read on for more tips & details! Tips: Try on different dress styles at a local boutique before committing to a style or design for your custom dress. I wound up changing my design completely based on how a certain style looked on me in real life (vs a skinny model in a picture). Purchase the sketch from Brides and Tailor to confirm you’re aligned on vision. I’m really glad I did this step as it made me feel confident in my decision and trust that B&T knew how to execute. I also got to make small modifications for my comfort before moving forward. Order directly from the Brides and Tailor website - online third-party shops sometimes have weird rules about delivery times that aren’t conducive to the custom dress collaboration process Invest in a good local tailor as you will need to work closely with them on measurements before ordering and after for alterations! Just do it! I know it’s scary – it took me 1 year to pull the trigger (from sketch to purchase). I’m beyond impressed with the final product. Working with Manal and her team was so easy. They guide you and keep you involved the entire time. I had a unique request and I couldn’t be happier and the price is extremely reasonable especially considering you’re getting a CUSTOM dress! The dress was also completed in the timeframe they gave and I was blown away. I looked into one other dress maker and they told me it would take an entire year at nearly triple the price!

Where do I even start! Manal, with Brides & Tailor, was my “Fairy Dress Mother”! After being ghosted by two seamstresses, I was left feeling like the vision for my wedding gown was unobtainable & out of reach. I stumbled across her Instagram and after having the initial consultation, I was encouraged that it was possible. She made the process seamlessly easy and stress free! (Especially being in two different states) She listened to me and my “wants” and also gave her opinion without overstepping her boundaries or deterring my vision. To the point where I NEVER envisioned myself in a ball gown style of any sort. She sketched the train on my dress and I fell in LOVE! She was SO PLEASANT AND TRULY A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH. Her communication throughout the process was impeccable and the constant updates and picture mail left me at ease during the process. My gown was finished 5-6 weeks early and was shipped with care. Even with her sending me the final product before shipping, NEVER IN MY LIFE would I have thought the gown would look how it does. The pictures did it NO JUSTICE and it was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!! She incorporated everything I wanted! Gold Mermaid style gown with detachable train AND sleeves! Also added her own little flare adding chocolate beading in with the gold! I was brought to tears unboxing it as the details and beading were so intricate and neatly placed/sewn! I will never have the words to thank her enough!! But I will sing her praises FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!! Not only did she make me feel like the BADDEST MAM-A-JAMA walking the earth on my wedding day but she made me feel AND LOOK loke ROYALTY!! The feeling of knowing that I have a ONE OF A KIND DRESS that can’t be duplicated and a gown that will be talked about for YEARS TO COME is AN OUT OF THIS WORLD EXPERIENCE! When I first started shopping for wedding dresses, I was very upset because all the dresses I tried on were just NOT what I was looking for. I discovered that I had a very specific vision in my head of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like and it was just not something I could buy off the rack. I wanted something that had a more vintage, classic, dramatic, and conservative look than the things I was trying on in the store. So that is the reason I went searching for a custom dress! And boy am I glad I did!! I initially came across the Brides & Tailor Etsy because I loved Grace Kelly's wedding dress and Manal had posted something similar to that on Etsy. I was able to create my own version of that dress. From start to finish, Manal helped me bring together every single thing I loved about the different dresses I had been trying on in stores. The first thing Manal did was she had me create a vision board with all the little elements I loved about different dresses. From that vision board, she combined every element and drew a mockup sketch of it. We then met over Zoom to discuss details and solidify a plan. Over the next couple of weeks, we picked out fabrics. We picked out lace. We picked out buttons. Everything was communicated. At first i was worried about creating my own dress because I am not a seamstress, and I was concerned I wouldn't know what looked "good". However, Manal is an extremely competent, knowledgble, communicative, and creative person. She will let you know what works and what doesn't! She will incorporate all your ideas and make them work with the overall dress concept. She is truly a pleasure to work with. The dress arrived in just 3 months and it fit me perfectly. No alterations needed. It was exactly what I asked for. The only thing I did need to "fix" was the jacket sleeve length, but that was because I changed my mind and wanted the sleeve to go over my wrist. It all turned out perfect!! At the wedding, EVERY single guest I spoke to told me this dress was the most beautiful dress they had ever seen. And I agree!! It belongs in a museum LOL. The photos just speak for themselves!! And honestly... it's even more stunning in person! Not only did Manal create my absolute dream wedding dress, she did it for half the price I would have paid in a store!! The dress I received from them was absolutely STUNNING. Arrived in plenty of time for the wedding and the seller had crystal clear communication. This was the dress of my dreams and it fit like a glove. They made our special day that much more special, and I cannot thank them enough. If I could give Brides & Tailor 100 stars I would. I saw my dream black wedding dress posted on a sale on their instagram. Luckily for me it happened to be my exact measurements. It can be scary buying a dress online, but I trusted Manal that it would be a good fit based upon the info I gave her. She answered all my questions in detail and was very helpful. The dress was mailed quickly and it ended up being a perfect fit. The quality exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to wear it on my special day!

Not only is my dress of the best quality but it also fits perfect which I was not expecting since I had never been there in person and have to have my measurements don’t locally then sent in. Manal even edited the sketch to adjust something that I changed my mind about after seeing it. The final sketches came out amazing! After receiving the sketches, I also had a zoom call to discuss details before I decided to have Manal sew my custom dress. She is amazing very personable and knowledgeable. Absolutely stunning dress! Customer service was beyond words! I have nothing but good things to say. When I was searching for my wedding dress originally I planned on going with an all black long gothic style dress. Knowing my area wouldn’t have too many of them I remembered Etsy! I found this wonderful store and seen the pops of color in the dresses and I was sold! Our colors are black gray/silver and purple and this dress is everything I could imagine! The details are beautiful! Communication was perfect when it came to sizing, what I was looking for, changes and all. Shipping was very fast. The whole process from start to finish was very quick and efficient especially being a customized item. Thank you so much and I can wait to wear this dress on my wedding day!
